In the past 23 years, Surfside Beach has been affected by twelve hurricanes and tropical storms: Alberto and Beryl (2024); Nicholas (2021); Hanna, Marco, and Laura (2020); Harvey (2017); Gustav and Ike (2008); Dean (2007); Rita (2005); and Claudette (2003). SOBA members are taking the lead in keeping our neighbors informed, organizing emergency management training, and coordinating efforts with the local village government and first responders.
Planning. The most important action you can take is to download the Brazoria OEM app to your cell phone. This provides alerts and critical information before, during, and after an emergency. Go to your app store and search for "Brazoria OEM."

FEMA Individuals and Households Program
FEMA’s IHP provides financial help and direct services to disaster survivors with uninsured or underinsured essential expenses. Assistance is intended to meet basic needs and supplement recovery—not replace insurance or compensate for all losses.
